Library item: "Dawn Text"

You can insert the “Dawn Text” module into your pages by inserting it as a module from the module library.

This is one of the modules you’ll probably be using most, because it allows you to insert written text onto your page.

You’ll find more extensive information about working with text in the class creating content.

When you add this module from the library, a couple of lines of text appear to help you see where the module gets inserted onto your page. Just remove these lines and replace them with your own content.

You can work with the text modules in two ways. You can either type directly onto your page when in the visual builder mode. If you do this, an inline editing tool appears through which you can format your text (for example, make it bold, italics, change the font or colour, etc).

Or you can use the WordPress text editor (available by clicking on the module settings; the little cog-icon). Scroll down to see it, this is the same editor you use when you’re writing posts.

Both have their advantages:

  • The inline editor that is available in visual builder mode is great for quick changes to your text, or to write in if your content needs basic formatting.
  • The WordPress editor is better for longer texts, more elaborate edits, or additional formatting (for example, if you want to insert tables or special symbols)

But generally speaking, you can achieve the same results through both modes of working, so try them out and see which one you’re most comfortable with.

On the general tab of the text-module you can set the text colour. It defaults to dark, which is perfect if your text is on a light background. But if your text sits on a dark colour or photo, you can set its colour to light, so that it’s easier to read.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and ignore the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or redeemed by social condition; or to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
